I am looking for a used sports car, something just to use on weekends or in the summer; want it to be dependable and get decent mileage; mostly be fun to drive…what do you think?
I like it, I used to own a Fiat X-1/9 which was a similar concept and a real blast to drive. Such a used sports car as Toyota, like you say would be way more dependable.

I am going to buy one of good used cars made between year 2000 to 2004. I checked Edmunds.com, which has some user reviews, but not many. Is there another website what has more user reviews than edmunds.com? Yahoo Auto only has reviews for new cars. i am looking for reviews on the good used cars models made before 2004.

To buy old used cars you can save a lot of money. Two months ago,I bouht a near new SUV from online police auction.It only cost me $730 and i have not had one problem with it yet . im going to have to get like a 2k car. and i know the miles on it are going to be very high. but does that mean it wont last very long, or just how old it is? or both? i probably wont get one till early next year, but i need it for college. WHAT ARE THE BEST OLD USED CARS TO GET WITH MY PROBLEM
The number of miles already on a vehicle is a critical factor in estimating how much time you’ll get out of it. But it is not as critical as (1) how the car was cared for by the previous owners, or (2) what model vehicle it is. Have someone with knowledge of old used cars, preferably an auto mechanic inspect any used car you’re interested in buying. He (she) will be able to tell whether or not the car has been well cared for, or abused. Certain vehicle makes have a better track record of lasting longer and attaining higher total miles before failing. Toyotas, Nissans, and Hondas are well known for racking up higher mileage than most American made models of the same class.

I am looking to buy one of cheap, reliable used cars that I can basically drive for 10 years with as few problems as possible, safety or maintenance-wise. I don’t care about resale value since I intend to run the car into the ground. In fact, a high resale value might make reliable used cars too expensive to purchase as a used car. What would you reccomend?
Pretty much anything japanese, like others are saying the Honda Civic is pretty good – I knew someone who had one and they got it 10 years old and carried on using it for another 10 years. In the end they drove it to a scrap yard, it drove fine but it was begining to rust in places.

Such reliable used cars as Toyota Carolla runs forever! The bodies sometimes need a little work but the running gears are great. Well worth the money!

Check out used sports car Mazda MX5 but they’ve only got 2 seats.Steer clear of the “boy-racers” like Imprezza or an Evo unless you really know what you’re doing.Most are thrashed and you could be buying trouble.

Check out these reliable used cars Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, etc. I’ve attached links to the top ten most fuel efficient cars for 2003-2005. That should help you find a good used car. (2004 split into Hybrid verusus non-hybrid, but it should still be useful.)

Absolutely a slightly used sports car Honda S2000. It has terrific handling, revs to 9,000rpm (on the pre-’04 models) and has legendary Honda reliability. Mods are readily available and group forums (www.s2kca.com) can provide help and info on anything you want to know. Nothing is more fun to drive and it is a chick-magnet.
