Because we have not been importing them into the US for over 10 years and you have to get the parts from overseas. It's very costly and can take up to 2 months to get a part. Most people don't like the car well enough to go through all that so they are scrapped. I know because my friend has a 1991 Peugeot.
References :
because you can hardly find parts for these old cars. an old car these days is considered a 1999 -2001 or so. what you are looking for is an antique, and you need to be looking in papers that are geared toward those types of vehicles. also, used cars are rare, and relativly expensive on the market right.
References :
Peugeot is not very commercialized, for once, they work really well and don't wreck when they are old, so people only sells them when they are getting other car or something like that.
